 2. How long will my application be held at

     Travis County ESD #1?

     Applications are held with Travis County ESD #1

     for a period for one year. Example: Applicants

     who successfully complete each stop of the

     process on January 1st will be eligible for hire

     until January 1st of the following year.

3. If my application is accepted what is my

    next step?

    If your application has been accepted, you will

    be contacted to schedule your pre-employment

    testing. Testing will begin at 8:30 am on the

    scheduled date. You should plan to be at the

    testing location for up to eight(8) hours. If you

    are coming in from out of town travel

    arrangements and overnight accommodations

    should be made accordingly.

    pre-employment test you will be disqualified

    from the application process and your

    application will automatically expire.

    pre-employment test?

    Once you pass your pre-employment test, an

    extensive background investigation will be

    conducted as well as a psychological test. Once

    those test are passed you will be contacted to sit

    before an interview board.

6. What happens when I pass my background

    check and interviews?

    If you make it through the entire process; your

    name will be added to an eligibility list with other

    candidates. Once a position becomes available

    the Fire Chief will conditionally offer the position

    to the candidates on the eligibility list starting

    from the top of the list.

   7. What are the requirements to move from

       a conditional offer of employment to a

       final job offer?

       Once the conditional offer is made, the

       candidate must pass a drug test, a medical

       examination and must understand and agree

       to refrain from using tobacco for the duration

       of employment. Once these items are

       completed a final job offer will be given.
